Abstract and Expressive Painter

Inspired by nature

Christopher Evans

In essence my work is about memory and how i perecive the world through my neuro-diversity. Due to my “Aphantasia” i cannot visualise or imagine any inner senses and also my Autism flavours how i percieve the world.

Mindfulness , flow and a hidden inner knowing guide my art process which is created intuitively sometimes instantaneously other time over a period of time.

I am also seeking a feeling , a sense of something which i cannot define with words, whether internally like my watercolour poems, working on my embodied nature paintings or whilst i am painting outside in woodlands.

It is my hope that my work connects to people that i can show something through my paintings something deeper and more mystical.

The work is often created with intensity , a fleeting moment which comes directly from my body by allowing my mind not to get in the way. Sometimes as we are all human our mind wanders and causes reactions which my art contains as well.

This i why i chose Watercolours as they are direct , unedited , unpredictable , stubborn and have their own ethereal qualities allowing for the purest form of expression.

Watercolour & Paper

Paper is an organic product which contains the memory of life whilst knowing the ephemeral nature of existence. It holds the truth of each mark through its own presence of texture , strength and imperfections.

Water is the essence of life , it purifies and is the gateway to spirit , the unknown and transcendence.

Through movement the application of a fleeting emotion which only watercolour can contain and paper correctly withhold its qualities I spontaneously engage using a sense of knowing to respond to each moment . Everything is in the present moment and nothing can be returned to.

Each manifestation has been divided into my purest expression of self through watercolour poem , songs of my soul and embodied nature.
