Work on Mixed Media Paper

The work fluctuates from different forms depending upon where I am in my mind and emotion. The more loose expressive paintings are my most difficult as I have to be in a very particular state of mind for me to connect and let the expression. The more formal lines and shapes are more familiar to me as an expression , it something I have been working on in different states for a number of years so I have developed a language which comes out directly as I begin to create. Nothing is known beforehand the choice of colour is intuitive , a sense of knowing or that I am drawn to in the moment.

Being prolific in my work which is an expression in itself is through my need to explore my subconscious. As someone who cannot visualise , it is my way of seeing something in my subconscious and bringing it outwards onto paper. I use Mindfulness to guide my mark making and help me through responsiveness of what comes next.

Work on Cotton Rag

Cotton Rag paper has a different quality to it which soaks the pigment into the paper often leaving feint lines like faded memories which I build on, sometimes is just a process which there is no intention for an outcome and other times I feel the form has something which can be shared to others.

The poems are mainly about memory and in the moment feeling , sometimes both.

The work is visual and what is shown is meant to connect to people without words
